Return to Sender: Is this effective at eliminating junk mail?
Lately in an effort to be “green”, I’ve been contacting junk mail companies (on my own postage and envelope, i enclose the address portion and front panel of their mailing); and requesting to be removed from the mailing list.
It just occurred to me that writing “Return to Sender” and never opening the envelope may be just as effective.
I am also participating in greendimes.org or whatever to get my name off lists. But some of these places might benefit from a more direct message.
What’s your opinion, will “return to sender” be effective?
thanks!
It could work.
Usually I take everything they sent, stuff it into their return envelope, and mail it back with a note telling them “Remove me, (name), from your mail and phone lists”.
I worked for a company sorting donations for non-profits and unless the person specifically said “Remove me” it wasn’t regarded as a true request for removal.
