Do Not Call List?
I have been on this list for several years and have updated information each year I was about to come off the list.
I did business with a company but stopped in January. I asked to be taken off of their calling/mailing list the day I stopped their service. I have received over 12 calls in the past 2 weeks from this company and I finally called and talked with a manager on Saturday. She confirmed I asked to be put on the list in January and showed I was on the Do Not Call list nation wide, but her company did not put me on theirs by mistake when I asked.
I am ready to file a claim against the company for harrasement. I just want them to stop calling me. In irony, the company keeps calling to find out why I stopped using them. The first time they called wanting that information, I was calm and answered. Today being the 11 time for that particular call, was just too much.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
This is a sales call wanting to know why I stopped the service. It was a satelite company. I paid the final bill and sent back all equipment and they have verified it was received.
If you’ve kept a record of these calls by the company, and the fact that you’ve told them to be put on the "do not call"-list, you can sue them.
Yes you can file a claim. Dont put up with it! Get a Lawyer
Do it. File a complaint. Most people don’t, but these companies need to learn that no means no. If it costs them money they won’t have as many "mistakes".
If you haven’t written down the times and dates of all of these calls do so now.
And if they call again ask if they record their calls for quality assurance, if they do, it could help you in your case against them.
That’s all I know about that, but they are harassing you, so you should take action.
If the company of the lady you spoke to on Saturday calls you again, I pursue filing a claim. It is harassment, and if enough people complain, the government will be forced to further implement their legislation to stop this harassment.
lol…my sister just told me yesterday that she was fed up with the calls and screamed the women on the other end…and explained its not her she was mad at its her company for being so rude and calling at all hours of the day and night……that company has never called back.
Sue them, you have a legal avenue for recourse. If your name is in the DNC registry, companies are obligated to purge numbers against it. Failure for them to do so is against the law.
same happened to me … turns out they need up to 8 weeks to have your name go through all their systems. (sure sign to keep doing business with them, right? lol )
call the FTC they’re very helpful. ask what the window is in order to file a report then if the company still is calling after that window, report them to the FTC.
btw- they stopped calling.
If you live in New York state, you can report them to the states’ Attorney General, and Mr. Cuomo’s office will take them to court and fine them separately for each call. That amounts to $500 per call – and by law, that money is handed to the individual who’s received the offending calls! Do you wonder why we have so few telemarketing calls in New York state? Perhaps you could mount an effort to get your state to follow our example!
If you’re on the Nationwide No Not Call List (DNCR), they are required to use a telemarketers phone system which will block them from calling you. If they’re bill collectors or other similar companies, then they aren’t required to observe the DNCR list or calling times.
