Mailing List Bands
Why do bands want you to sign up to their mailing list ?
what are the benefits of signing up ?
i dont know whether to sign up for this band or not :s
There are two answers that come to my mind.
1. To drive up their audience. They want to mail you times, dates, places, etc. so that whoever is on their mailing list will (hopefully) attend their shows/concerts. Also they want to let you know of the latest news that has happened with their band so you stay current.
2. Marketing. Some websites use software to track who opens their e-mail they send out. It can tell them what time you opened it, how long you looked at it,what links you clicked on and it what order.
Hope this helps, usually a mailing list isn’t a bad thing, but sometimes in the worst case scenario companies have sold this information to other companies and it could result in SPAM mail. Since it is a band that you seem interested in, I would go ahead and sign up for it. Remember, you can always un-register from the list and they won’t send you anything anymore.
