Mailing List Exchange Server

mailing list exchange server
My exchange server email addresses do not look right. They show abc.mydomain.com instead of mydomain.com?

I just installed Exchange Server 2007, and I am adding mailboxes. I tell it that I am adding an existing user, and it brings up a list of users it found in our active directory. I finish adding the mailbox, but it assumes that the email address is abc.mydomain.com instead of simply mydomain.com. I realize that the name of our domain that all computers must join (when “adding them to the domain” in Windows) is abc.mydomain.com, but we have always used user@mydomain.com as our email scheme (using a different mail server).

But Exchange uses Active Directory to pull this information, so I am at a loss as to what I need to change (and I am new to Exchange Server).

Is this a common problem for which there is a simple fix? If not simple — can you direct me to *any* fix for this predicament?

Thanks,

Riven

it will use that for internal routing if you have other sites or AD domains. just add an SMTP address under Email Addresses on the user properties for the external SMTP address
