Mailing Lists Public Companies

who at the universities profits from selling your info to mailing list companies?
is it the actual universities that do this or is it university employees who sell your info for their personal gain? is your name and address public information if you attend a public university?
Universities do not sell student info to mailing list companies. It is a violation of privacy laws and would lead to heavy sanctions and possible loss of accreditation by the university. Unscrupulous university employees may do it to make personal money. If they are caught they would be fired, fined, and possibly sent to prison.
Even if you attend a public university your info is still protected by privacy laws. All the public means is that the school is funded by the state or federal government. Laws regarding privacy are the same for public and private institutions.
Hope I was able to help you out!
