Postcard Mail marketing?
Is there any little things I can do to get a better response off my mail pieces? I send out 3000 pieces per month I would like to get a little better response. Is it better to use color paper? is it better to put a self stamp on? Please let me know your little tricks or even if you don’t know what do you look at when you receive a postcard what grabs you attention? PLEASE POSTCARDS ONLY I DON’T NEED LIST OR TARGET MARKETS I HAVE THAT.
Agree w/ the guy above, you really should test other lists, in addition to testing different things on your postcards. For example – let’s assume your 3,000 is just "all residents" in an area. Well, some of those folks are NOT your prospects, for whatever reason, so why mail to them? What if you could find (or have made) a smaller list of people that are more likely to be your prospects, so you only mail 1,000 people. If you get the same # of responses, you just increased your profits.
Testing: The top 5 things to test are:
· Headline
· Angle / Hook/ Story
· Pricing
· Graphics / No Graphics
· Close / Call to Action
Other ideas to test:
bonus gifts, coupons, P.S. messages, guarantees, opening sentence, closing sentence.
On postcards, the stamp _shouldn’t_ matter since it’s obviously an ad. What you want of course is to catch the prospect’s attention in the half-second they glance at it before tossing it.

One of the things you need to do is to use good names..and, as you may know they are hard to find…most lists are duplicated, contain names of people who have moved or died.
I mail out more then 20,000 pieces per month, so you can be assured I know this.
